This technique takes advantage of the relative isolation of deep tissues in rodents, compared to human tissue. Using a specially designed chamber, a dose of X-ray radiation is delivered to a radiation sensitive tissue via inhalation, instillation, insufflation, or vapourisation and the tissue is then removed for measurement of the delivered dose. The Old Town Hall, home to the Inter-City Railway Museum
The Old Town Hall in Dunedin, New Zealand, is considered the finest example of Victorian architecture in the country and is known as “the jewel of Dunedin”.
Cusworth and Wade, Architects
The building was designed by the Dunedin architects Cusworth and Wade, who were asked by the City Council to construct a Town Hall. The design of the building was influenced by the structure of other towns, including Christchurch, and is considered as one of the most beautiful Victorian buildings in New Zealand. It features corner towers, a large dome and verandas around the perimeter.
The Old Town Hall was built between 1886 and 1888 and was opened on 1 February 1889 by the Earl of Onslow, then Governor of New Zealand. The two-storied town hall has a glazed dome above the entrance and a corner tower on each corner. The Town Hall today is home to the Inter-City Railway Museum which, as the name suggests, has an important collection of railway memorabilia. The Mayor of Dunedin has the responsibility of acting as the Town Hall Livery Keeper and the Town Hall is open to the public from 8am to 5pm every day of the year.
Other Features
The Old Town Hall is home to the offices of Dunedin City Council and is often used for conferences, weddings and special functions. The Town Hall features a Grade 1 Listed status and is considered as one of the most beautiful buildings in New Zealand.
